The line dances are choreographed individual routines, but we dance them as a big group cos it's more fun that way! The workshops are open to all. 6:30 - 7:30: Madison 7:30 - 8:30: 1920's Charleston Dancing after the workshops for the rest of the evening. Cost: £10 for each workshop, £15 for both. James McLauchlan has been dancing for more than 15 years and quickly fell in love with the couples dance. He started competing and winning titles all over the world including Scotland, Ireland, England, Spain, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Washington, New York and a world championship in Nashville. James has been teaching different types of dance for nearly 12 years, including west coast swing, east coast swing, night club two-step, country two-step, polka, american smooth, hip-hop, line dance, keep fit and aerobics. Jenny Steenson has been ranked as the number one female line dancer in the world. She has been UCWDC World Superstar Champion for the last 3 years and UCWDC World female Pro Swing Champion 2008! She teaches and dances West Coast Swing at competition level. We will be running two workshops on Saturday 2nd May at beginer and improver level and for those who would like to push themselves further James will be holding private classes during the day. 7:00 to 8:30pm - WCS impovers (aimed at those who have learnt the basics) 8:30 to 9:30pm - WCS beginners (no previous knowledge required) 9:30 to 11:00pm - WCS Dancing Costs: £5 - Beginners workshop + access to the party (WCS, Tango and Salsa) £10 - Beginners & impovers workshop + access to the party (WCS, Tango and Salsa) The workshops will be run in parallel with our monthy salsa night. So the ticket includes access to the salsa party as well as a second dance floor with Tango and Ballroom. Private classes will be running between 10am and 5pm. They are open to anyone regardless of whether you already know how to dance WCS or have never even tried it. This is an excellent opportunity to get one-to-one teaching from someone of James' level. There will be room to dance and the 'Red Hot Roosters' will be playing and we will spin a few tracks to keep the dancing going. This is an outdoor event and it will go ahead regardless of weather. The last gig went down such storm that they have decided to hold another night of swingin sensation. If you're interested in unleashing your dancing shoes for another night of fun, the night's activities will be starting at 9:30 and it'll be well worth a visit. The band would be delighted for swing dancers to come along and inject some energy on to the dance floor for the night. If you're looking for spats, hats, retro dresses or vintage accessories, then this is the event to come to. The atmosphere is great, with displays of vintage motorbikes, radios, photos, toys and homewares and you can browse through the stalls for one-off items. Dancers are in for a special treat - the Siobhan Pettit Quintet will be playing their smooth jazz numbers especially for us! We particularly want to encourage beginners to come along and show everyone how fun and easy swing is to learn.
